Summer Update 2023 In Tami's own words:" Hello everyone who has been kind enough to stop by my site. For the last couple of years I have been busy casting, producing, promoting, composing, fundraising, and directing videos and live performances for the arts organization that I serve Harrisburg Opera Association. Stop over by HOA's website to check out the latest concert I'm working on, which is our annual free, educational outreach concert - Opera in the Park. This year's theme is Make 'Em Laugh which speaks for itself. (And I know we all derserve a good one after these last few years!) That stated, I have had a really fulfilling schedule devoting my time to philanthropy by performing in fundraisers, benefits for Ukraine and other good causes, and working with International Rescue Committee the last couple of years. IRC is an NGO that spreads some much needed aid and kindness in the world for refugees escaping oppression and disasters. It has been a very fulfilling experience to work with this orgamization. While I have somewhat returned to live performances I really look forward to auditioning for television and film and landing some great opportunities once the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are over! (And I completely support better pay and working conditions for my colleagues and myself.) And also finally launching a summer arts festival for Harrisburg Opera Association that has educational, philanthropic and therapeutic programs attached to it. Oh, and if you're interested about what this is all about in Harrisburg, PA, or want to donate, become a board member or volunteer, please reach out to me at HOA's website or here. It's the arts and it's helping people. A win/win! Stay tuned for updates right here...and there. I am bringing on the light for 2024. It's a full life!" |

Fall 2020 Update Art finds a way. Tami Swartz was fortunate to accomplish a few things this year to spread light and stay safely creative during this once a century pandemic. In May 2020 MINIATURE CHESS, filmed early this year and in which she starred, began making the rounds and continues to do so winning national accolades from Frostbite Film Festival and Indie X Film Festival in Los Angeles, CA. Additional 2020-2021 competitions including current and future are Sundance, SlamDance and The Sherman Oaks Film Festival. This summer EQUAL STANDARD, executive produced by Ice-T and Taheim Bryan, was released for a limited time on Vimeo streaming. It can be rented HERE. The film artfully and compellingly addresses all sides of the racial justice equation in a fictional story revolving around two police officers, their colleagues and their families. Tami had a supporting role and is honored to be included in such an important movie that's release presciently coincided with the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter moment. Harrisburg Opera Association, the arts organization that Tami serves as Executive Director and Artistic Director, in lieu of live performances launched a virtual season in late August. Tami directed OPERA IN THE PARK: OUTSIDE WHILE INSIDE - a virtual concert which combined HOA's educational outreach concert and mainstage production with educational programs attached to the season. The theme celebrated the natural world, significant historical places in Harrisburg, PA and featured Harrisburg's communities of color while sharing their experiences in Central Pennsylvania and across the United States. A great success for the company, it continues to be viewed in perpertual reruns on their YouTube channel. The direct link to the virtual concert where you can view and donate to the arts organization is HERE. HOA is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization and your donations are tax deductible. |

The Dallas Morning News review for Dallas Summer Musicals' King and I: "In the evocative "Something Wonderful," Tami Swartz imbues Lady Thiang, the king's first wife, with the grandeur of a love that transcends the king's shortcomings and impels her to entreat Anna to help him to achieve goals she doesn't fully understand."

Review for MT Wichita's King and I:
The Wichita Eagle's tremendous review of Music Theatre of Wichita's King and I - Tami Swartz is the very picture of poise and dignity as Lady Thiang, the King's chief wife and her operatic soprano gives tragic strength to her "Something Wonderful" portrait of her husband. |
